Great movie, which you will love if you liked the Matrix. It displays humanity as merely a playtoy for a reality that background forces rig, again and again and again. In many ways, it has the elements of the matrix, but without an anonymous computer entity behind it. Of course, this makes sense, since "Dark City" came out before the Matrix. It is more artistically done, and has less fighting scenes...
"A Clockwork Orange," released in 1971 and directed by Stanley Kubrick, remains a cinematic landmark over 50 years later, continuing to provoke thought and discussion with its themes of violence, free will, and the nature of humanity. Set in a dystopian future where societal decay is rampant, the film follows the story of Alex DeLarge, a charismatic but morally bankrupt young man who leads a gang...
When George MacKay started playing as (basically) Elliot Rodger, the whole cinema started laughing (in a good way).
It feels like 3 movies smushed into one, with each story having its own genre and...

The strengths and weaknesses of Back to the Future II were very much reflective of the epoch when this movie was produced. The film was released just a year after Reagan left office and it still very much was “Morning in America”. It was an era defined not only by the rising individualism but also by a profound optimism that defined America’s national identity at the time. The free markets flourished,...
Although Neo is the protagonist of the entire Matrix trilogy, Smith is by far the more insightful character who sheds light on the role of government and transnational corporations in our lives. At the time of the creation of this movie, the threat to our liberties that Smith embodied seemed exaggerated at best. Yet, that was only a couple of a few years before the Patriot Act was legislated. At the...
French cinema is bizarre, and this film was no exception. It's supposedly a commentary on how gender can be fluid, but all I see is just some crazy woman wanting to be rammed by some vehicle, disguising as a boy, and then delivering a mixed baby from all that sex. The sad old dad was the only alright part, but I was grossed out by him fully accepting his "son" regardless of that weird pregnant belly....
I played this through once a while ago so in all honesty I don't remember everything. Indie gayslop through and through. Women are super badass, all the brown characters are good (and there are a TON), and all the white male characters are evil to a sadistic degree. There is a literal communist commune that is trying to save the environment who are super wholesome and good compared to the evil corporations....

A soft Sci-Fi show that explores the divide between tyrannical and free societies with a cold-war style approach to espionage. A major theme is how much people can change, and at what degree a single event can influence that change. Very nice exploration of a "what-if" scenario, and it's not a surprise that it has been memory-holed after the pandemic. Imagine living in a dystopia where people are mandated...
The worst thing that could have happened to Warner Brothers over the last few months was the release of the film ‘Godzilla: Minus One.’ A movie that was made on a 12 million dollar production budget...
