Probably the best result you can get making a sequel 30 years after an initial film. It ups the crushing atmosphere of distrust, doubt and apathy of Blade Runner one level higher by making K, the main subject, know for a fact that he is a replicant, while existing for the sole purpose of hunting replicants down. Ryan Gosling and the director do a good job of making K subtly wrestle with human desires that his conscious mind has  rationalize away all his life. The action scenes are very reminiscent of the first film as well as the motif of rain falling on characters during profound moments.
