Better then previous film
I like this André van Duin film slightly better then his previous film, gone is the silly romance/happy ending modern comedy, in staid we get a slightly raunchy historical and political satire, during the French occupation of the Netherlands.
Van Duin plays a poor schmuck who gets mistaken for a French imperial bureaucrat, due to his red hair... immediately he is bedded, fed and given expensive clothes by the local Dutch landholders, who hope to get in his favor, Van Duin naturally take complete and total advantage of the situation.
Besides some golden comedic moments, its also a satire on modern politics and on people who follow the French customs a little bit to seriously. My favorite scene is where they rig the hunt in order to please him, first they keep throwing boatloads of pheasants out of the bushes, then hares fly through the air and finally entire deer are thrown...
