The Lucky One: A Clichรฉ-Filled Romance That Falls Flat

The Lucky One" is a romantic drama that fails to deliver anything new to the genre. The film, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, follows a soldier named Logan (Zac Efron) who believes that a photo he found in Iraq of a woman he's never met is his lucky charm. After returning home, he sets out on a journey to find the woman in the photo, Beth (Taylor Schilling). What follows is a predictable and clichรฉ-filled story of love and redemption that feels like a paint-by-numbers romance. Efron and Schilling do their best with the material they're given, but their chemistry is lacking, and the film's dialogue is often cringeworthy. The movie's saving grace is its beautiful cinematography, showcasing picturesque views of the Louisiana countryside. However, even the stunning visuals can't save "The Lucky One" from being a forgettable and uninspired addition to the romantic drama genre. Those who like the movie lucky one should have to check out more similar movies like lucky one.
