It’s an ambitious restoration of WW1 films, mixed with the ambiance of the time as well as rigorously putting voices to soldiers. Watch it, it’s really good. The anti god rating is only there because the war itself is what got many people across Europe to question Christianity.
based film
my my what do we have here???
Narrated by Liam Neeson, one of the most brutal and interesting documentaries. It's History. Show it to your family
Better than Anthony Bourdain's show. What VICE used to be about. Getting a glimpse into obscure underground subcultures around the world
Before I started to review this great film, I was planning to give it only four stars, but after thinking about the film and trying to describe it, I ended up spending a lot of time ruminating on it, so I had too not only wait a while before writing a review about this "documentary", but also get in the right mood. The claim that is being made about this film, is that its a documentary, supossedly...
The ultimate blackpill documentary, with the worst ending possible
A new style of docuseries from Adam Curtis compiling footage together with no narration, only brief text to move from one source to another. The episodes don't attempt to contrive or promote one of many political explanations of the collapse of communion, Instead they show less obvious loosely connected stress factures as they appear and are exasperated
A fantastic musical documentary about mass formation in humans, the decline of empires, historical trauma, the fog of conspiracies, and the clash of power and group identity
A time capsule of archive footage strung together with a narration. Adam Curtis does a good job of dissecting and displaying very different, competing, diametrically opposed dreams for futures that could have been and nightmares that have past, but are destined to reappear
Very nice carols and hymns from Kings College, which are put out every year. I usually put one on as background ambience at Christmas gatherings to get in the spirit. Plenty of the full video versions of the performance from years past can be found on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbMygPmt6WY
I thought gluten free options were just hypochondriac yuppies in California making sh*t up. I am not allergic to anything and pride myself in my robust mind over matter Chad body. Stomach of steel and the like. But after years of treating the symptoms of IBS by isolating things that exacerbate it (stress, coffee, sp*cy food, not enough probiotics) I finally found the real reason. It's the toxic glysophate...
This documentary follows a Chinese foreman of an engineering group doing work in Africa, and painfully shows his struggle in getting even the most basic of tasks done when working with blacks. Whites, of course, are no longer allowed to articulate the basic truth that blacks cannot achieve or maintain civilization independently, but the Chinese are still hilariously blunt in their judgement of reality....
After some anon went in detail about his son in a "Boy and the Heron" review, I went down a Google rabbit hole. I was only vaguely aware of their relationship and had no idea the extent of how much he's failed to live up to his dad's expectations. I feel bad for the guy. The CGI film looks like sh*t but if he doesn't try new things he'll always be compared to an animation god. And I guess the other...
Great documentary. No political agenda crap added in at all. Fascinating story of a guy with a few screws loose who lived ahead of his time. This is the second time I've watched this movie and I found it even more riveting the second time 'round.
Not much to say about it without ruining your viewing experience so just trust me and watch it. Especially if you fit on either of the bottom two political...
Man, I love documentaries. I realize this more and more as I compare them with my movie-going experience with the usual Hollywood tripe. This one was great too. I don’t want to ruin anything, so just watch it when you have time. One thing I will say, though, is that this has some nice themes. Typically, documentaries present as neutral observers and merely dramatize things for emotional responses....
A documentary about girls getting into the porn industry. Pornography has become so common, accepted, and even celebrated in our society when it's been doing massive harm to us all and exploits women in the worst ways possible. This film centers on a few girls in particular, and while there's plenty of sad and disturbing moments, it could be a lot worst, showcasing the true horror a lot of girls involved...
Great, in-depth documentary about the history of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. It takes you through its inception, the toy lines, the series, the movie, the fandom. Well done.
I was happily surprised watching this film. Everything I saw was accurately portrayed and the analysis was on point. Most of the people interviewed were actually in tune with the image board subcultures except for a few douchey people interviewed. Matt Furie seems alright, but it's hard to root for him in the end. He reminds me of the Techno Viking guy not understanding the internet and...
A documentary with a strong narrative: to show humanity as irrational and hypocritical beings. This film and its creator have an interesting history that call into question the motives for the films creation and the authenticity of some of the footage in this production
