Why Fathers Should Watch "The Bad News Bears" With their Kids

It’s always dicey to watch a PG-rated movie with my eight-year-old son. No two are created equal. Some, like Nanny McPhee, are squeaky clean. Others are The Bad News Bears. Luckily, when I chose the latter, my son and I ended up learning some useful lessons. The Bad News Bears has plenty to say about parenting, amateur sports and our culture at large. And the lessons are as relevant today as they were back in 1976 when the movie premiered. The comedy features a crusty Walter Matthau as the coach of a rag-tag bunch of ballplayers.
