Within the first 3 minutes there were 3 strikes: - Girlboss snark - Mudshark - Buzzfeed logo I almost stopped the film before continuing, but you'll see why I continued if you watch the intro. Heh... Honestly, I was surprised by the way the film unfolded and thought it was a very fresh take on the horror genre. My palms were very sweaty throughout. Sure, there are some predictable things and obvious foreshadowing, but overall it kept me on the edge of my seat, rooting for the girls. Definitely helped that the two leads are babes. But yeah, the acting wasn't the greatest, and there were too many times where you're thinking, "Why the hell would she do that!?" But gradually, the acting gets better later on and so do the graphics. And there's enough red herrings 'n unexpected events to balance out all of the things you saw coming a mile away. And as always, grief and death are the main themes which is obligatory for all scary movies it seems. Although the messaging was unclear. Are they saying to not be an attention whore and risk your life stupidly, or are they saying to YOLO and do crazy sh*t because we're all gonna' die anyways? Idk. Nevertheless, the symbolic climax of facing death was cathartic in the same way that "The Ritual" (2017) was. Literally facing down vultures after brutally crushing the skull and drinking the blood of the other. Very life affirming and metal. So, I definitely recommend the film and am glad I watched it. But I'm also glad I pirated it, because I don't want to give money to Buzzfeed or movies with coal burners.
