Great story featuring a wholesome romance and a grand quest against evil. 40 episodes give it plenty of time to explore minor plotlines and a lot of adventure. The special effects are impressive, and shows that chy-na has progressed a lot in this area. The set and atmosphere are all stunning, especially if you enjoy chinese aesthetics. Many good battles as well. The character arcs and story structure are very well tied together, and is an obvious advantage of filming the whole thing all at once, before broadcasting. We don't see that at all in hollywood. I should have seen some of the twists coming, but I confess I didn't; great shame, ancestors cry! Recommended for everyone who is searching for a fantasy show but can't tolerate modern hollywood. Give this a try! Not to be confused with "Sword and Fairy" or "Sword and Fairy 4". The 1 is because it's an adaptation of a game of the same name.
