Great for a palate cleanser
Megaman + James Bond + Cowboy Bebop = Space Cobra
The golden age of Anime is usually considered late 80's and early 90's. This was just before that. I put it in the category of good shows to watch while simultaneously watching something heavy. For example, when you are binging a sequential gritty drama like "Breaking Bad" / "Game of Thrones" / "House of Cards" / "Peaky Blinders" / etc. this is a great palate cleanser. There are many episodic lighthearted comedies like "Rick & Morty" or "Family Guy" but many of the newer shows are trash and get corporate & woke. What I love about shows like "Space Cobra" are that they didn't go on too long. Even "Urusei Yatsura" which went on for 195 episodes was still great to the very end. These older shows are lighthearted and slapstick sometimes. Usually fairly simple plots but it's not like watching children's cartoons from your childhood that are clearly targeted toward kids, that no longer scratch that itch as an adult. These on the other hand, were made for all audiences, but since they came from another era and country, it resembles the same fun loving mental popcorn vibes you got from shows as a kid. If that makes sense...
Anyways, I'm only on episode 5 and apparently the movie came out before the show. Which I haven't seen. But I definitely recommend this show and will make a list of similar ones when you want a break from heavy stuff, but want something better than "Family Guy" "Seinfeld" "Simpsons" etc.
