Sick of Myself, 2022 - ★★★★

This film had me laughing and squirming in equal measure. It's an examination of a couple - the man, Thomas, is an artist who makes art by stealing furniture and the woman, Signe, works at a bakery/coffeeshop. They both love attention and they fight to become the center of attention in every situation they find themselves.

And then, Signe discovers a Russian drug whose side effects include a disfiguring skin disease. It's her ticket to stardom in her mind.

The film explores modern narcissism, art, and Munchausen Syndrome in a film that I can only describe as romantic comedy meets body horror. If you liked Borgli's shorts, such as A Former Cult Member Hears Music For the First Time, then you'll probably enjoy this. It has that same look, feel, and heightened atmosphere.
