The demonic modern feminine mocks the saintly classical feminine. We're supposed to view Maud as delusional because of the hamfistedly over the top way she's written and portrayed here, but the filmmakers self own themselves with how detestable the modern world is as well with its hedonism in the face of nihilism and skepticism. There's many shots too of the JOKER stairs walk which is very much like the stairs from the original Exorcist film. The sh*tlib filmmakers are attempting to creep us out with how odd they view the faithful these days, but again I think the rest of the people in this film's world come off worse. You don't even have to be looking through Maud's overly pious and "unreliable" eyes to see how disgusting and even demonic they are. I have much more sympathy for someone like Maud who is sick from modernity than the sickos like degenerate dying woman or her hedonistic and borderline Satanic sh*tlib modern friends or even the more centrist normies she encounters who are out participating blithely in this broken world. To quote The Joker because this is almost a female version of it from the same time period, "YOU GET WHAT YOU F**KING DESERVE!" The degenerate dying woman dies violently indifferent to G0d like a demon possessed and Maude gets peace even though the filmmakers want us to think she is getting her just deserves burning like the hellfire she so feared
