The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, 2013 - ★★★

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya is a stunning visual landscape unlike so much of the medium, graced with fluid watercolor and malleable lines, decked out in various color schemes to match the natural scenery in the first half all the way to the man-made structures of the second half. Since I am unintelligent on Japanese culture at large, I cannot provide critique in how the film shows the country's traditions. The emotive response however, is alive and well, anchored by a stirring lead performance from the princess herself.
