Glass Onion: Onions here seem to have layers but, in reality, you can see right through to their core. They're not as deep as you think. This movie isn't that deep, despite seeming to have layers.
Shrek: Onions here are a symbol for the complexity of Man. Ogres are like onions - they have layers. The film penetrates the layers of Shrek, peeling away his persona that he plays, that of an ogre, because it makes his safe or because society expects that of him. Over the course of the film, we see his true self, his vulnerable self. This, too, is reflected in Fiona. As they grow together, they discover each other's flaws and quirks and true feelings, making for a great love story that also involves inflating frogs into balloons.
