I was in the mood for a fun comedy film and Sons of the Desert is one of my favourite Laurel & Hardy films, basically the boys want to go to the convention of their lodge, after they have sworn a sacred oath to go, Laurel is afraid his wife wont like it, so Hardy explains to him that he wears the pants in his home... Of course he doesnt, both men are pussy-whipped, so Hardy concocts an elaborate ruse. What we get is 80 minutes of dozens of succesful and funny gags, I found myself laughing out loud several times and of course, nothing goes as planned. Another fun aspects are the two guys at the lodge convention, surrounded by scanty woman, lots of booze and an over the top jokester, the film keeps up well and the ending is also hilarious. There is also a decent amount of social commentary, its an old film, so bossy woman and pussy-whipped men where still a subject of a joke, Laurel's wife is a butch that likes hunting and Hardy's wife is just a dominant shrew.
