Best animation ever produced

La Planรจte Sauvage is in all accounts one if not the best animation every produced, made during the golden age of French comics, it has all the elements that make them great, wonderful art, surreal imagery, violence, nudity and a rich layer of philosophical ideas intermingled with the story. The story itself is wonderful and well executed, somewhere in the future humanity destroys itself, afterwards their descendants become the pets of the Traag, gigantic, highly advanced blue humanoids who age much slower then us. These beings dont see us as sentient, merely as very clever animals. What we get in the first half of the story is a metaphore about how us people treat our pets, we play with them, accidentily hurt them, young children sometimes kill animals, we torture them, but also love them at the same time. The second half becomes more gruesome, when one of the tame humans escapes his master, joining a wild tribe. The animation becomes really gruesome at this points, hundreds of humans are slaughtered, by animals, traps, poison gas, trampeling feet, etc eventually the humans fight back, though the ending is somewhat of a let down. The great luxurious animations, combined with the existential questions being asked and the stark brutality, makes this a must watch.
